Wildwoods spends a lot of money on WCB insurance.  When someone is injured I am happy to have the insurance for them.  Of course I hope for no injuries, but when they do happen I will assist them in using the insurance.  To the best of my knowledge I have never had any planters try to take advantage of WCB.  In my opinion the system is reasonably fair.  The amount of WCB compensation is quite small compared to the daily wages planters can earn, so there’s plenty of motivation to stay healthy.  It is my responsibility to hire planters that I honestly feel can complete the season without injuries. Depending on circumstances I will not continue hiring planters that have had WCB claims for re-occurring issues. It is totally unethical for me to allow planters to do that sort of damage to their bodies. I have seen too many people do real damage to themselves; money can push people into poor judgment. It’s not worth it and I don’t want to be supporting it.
